This is my 4th cordless screwdriver. It is my second Dewalt. I had to have another because this is the one everyone borrows. Everyone prefers Dewalt to the other choices.
I think it's the only tool left not using NiMH or Lithium Ion. Now that it's a few years old I find the batteries are not holding a charge for more than an hour of sporadic use. I've had this tool for a few years and it has done everything I could expect of it. Two batteries are a MUST because when this tool dies, it dies. It wasn't much better when they were new either. They are STILL using Nicads in this tool. If it used LIon or NiMH I'd happily replace it now but I'm very disappointed to see the Nicads are still being used. It would get 5 stars if it used other batteries.
I began pricing replacement batteries, which were not available from the big box hardware stores, but were available online for about $28 each plus shipping. Over the past 20-30 years I've been through a variety of other handheld cordless screwdrivers, but this one is far and away the best of the lot. I've had one for about 5 years, use it frequently, and noticed that one of the batteries was showing signs of age (not taking a full charge). When I saw that for less than $10 more at Amazon I could get a whole new kit (new driver, charger & two batteries) it was kind of a no-brainer. Great tool, now times 2.
ok i love this i have to say as a woman finding something that fits good in my hand and does not weigh alot it very hard i tryed 3 different kinds before i tryed this one tryed black. decker (no power no battery life ) hated it milwaulke too heavy worked good but way too heavy craftsman it was ok but lacked the features of the dewalt and now the dewalt i cannot say enough about it love it it could use a light like one i tryed but that is not a bad thing if your looking for a good tool it is here ya will pay a little more but well worth it
The Dewalt is a great cordless screwdriver. The two batteries make it impossible to run out of a charge and the torque control is great. Tool has very good balance and can handle just about everything you can think of for a cordless driver. Also does very good light drilling
